Hi Guestbookker Staff,
You have a great guestbook service, with very powerful killer app & themes/colors, etc. (V-Bulletin I think).
(A person could make an entire Web page with this guestbook client.)

I've only encountered one problem / need:

I will be using my guestbook as a genealogy inquiry / query page.
Sometimes genealogy people need more than the maximum default number (700) of message characters to post their info and questions.

How can I change the 700 limit to something higher, or can you (moderator-admin) change it?

Hi,

at first, make sure you have chosen "level 4" on the top of your guestbook admin center. Then you have to click on "main settings" --> "field settings" at the left side. Now, you can see a list of functions. Pleas scroll down until you find "maximum characters for fields". Behind this you will find the word "message". In the input field before this word, you can change the number of the maximum characters until 3000.

Hi Christian,
In my admin level 4 -> MainSettings -> Field Settings -> maximum characters for fields -> message

It won't allow me to raise the number above 700, (reverts back to 700 on save) and states this at the beginning of that area:

maximum characters for fields:
maximum number of characters allowed for the following fields. maximum for message field: 700

Do you also see this on your admin pages?

Can you change this preset default via your moderator admin and make it higher for my GB?

Hi,

please wait one day. I will tell it to my colleague. Normally 3000 characters should be possible, but appreantly my colleague has fogotten to save this number instead of 700. Tomorrow afternoon you will be able to raise the number until 3000, if you want.

I just tried it and it still won't allow me to raise the number above 700. It still reverts back to 700 on save.

I raised the limit to 800 char/field. Which is your gb ID?
This is due to reasons of server performance.

You can raise the limit up to 3000 char/field by switching your guestbook ads "off".
